Anyone that knows me knows that football season is my favorite time of the year. The Eagles are back and (hopefully) soon will be dominating on the field, the most exciting sport is populating our Sundays, and my favorite hobby is in full swing: fantasy football. I’ve played fantasy football for over a decade now, and I like to think that I’m pretty good at it, too, so I’m here to give you all the tips you need to win your leagues.
With drafts coming up here very soon for a lot of people, I thought I’d spark some lineups by giving you some targets that you might not be so familiar with. Everyone knows all of the top-tier players, so here’s someone at each major position that might save your team in the later rounds.
QB: This quarterback has an average draft position (ADP) of 122.9 and is being taken as the 16th quarterbacks off the board. He also set the record for most rushing attempts by a quarterback and he didn’t even start until week 11. His name is Lamar Jackson and he’s the starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens. He may not be the most accurate passer, but rushing yards and touchdowns equal extra points for a quarterback, and his coach has said he could break his own record again.
RB: This rookie running back coming out of Penn State University already has people saying he’s the best running back on an already electric offense. Miles Sanders has an ADP of 82.7 and is being drafted as the 36th running back overall, but is poised to have a breakout rookie year in a talented offense surrounded by Carson Wentz, Zach Ertz, and Alshon Jeffrey. Jordan Howard and Sanders should make for a dynamic backfield in Philadelphia.
WR: Michael Gallup is a second-year wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys and is set to benefit greatly by the recent release of Allen Hurns. He will now be the second option for a Dak Prescott led offense ~ playing second fiddle to Amari Cooper. He is coming off a rookie season where he put up 507 yards and 2 touchdowns in 8 games started. Hurns currently has an ADP of 163 and if often going undrafted in leagues.
TE: Trey Burton finished last year as the 7th overall tight end, but his current ADP is 118.3 and is the 11th tight end being drafted. I’m not quite sure why he’s falling so far behind where he finished last year, but he’s still in a fast paced system that has a young quarterback, which often rely quite often on their tight ends.
This is a small list of a big pool of players of guys that I think will live up to their potential, but there will be a myriad that don’t pan out. That’s the beauty of the game we all love to play so much, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. The good news for you readers, though, is that you can take this list to the bank.
