Contentment: a state of satisfaction. One little word can make such a huge difference in our lives.

“Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ Hebrews 13:5 ESV

If you followed this wisdom you wouldn’t have to have the best of the best every time something new came out or your neighbors, friends of family got something. No more keeping up with the Joneses all the time. I’ll be the first to admit we struggle with it from time to time.

We recently looked at a new home that we didn’t need yet for our growing family. We weren’t satisfied with where we were living. We met with the builder and everything. Once we found out the price, we couldn’t do it. God made us take a cold shower, and it was much needed. What we needed was God in that moment. We needed to practice contentment. We needed to be more grateful for our home we do have, and I’m glad He made us do that.

Think of all the things you probably wouldn’t have bought if you practiced contentment more frequently rather than keeping up with the Joneses. It’s even worse if you’re still making payments on those items, that payment ends up being a reminder every month. I know I’m glad I got a reality check.

So, I encourage you to practice contentment in your daily life because I know I need more practice as well. If you want to have a conversation about contentment and how it’s affecting your finances or joy, then take action. Reach out. You aren’t alone on this journey.

My passion is finding out your ambitions and helping you put together a plan with your finances to make those dreams a reality. If you can accomplish your dreams on your own, then you aren’t dreaming big enough. To date, my clients have roughly paid off $133,000 in debt and they’re working towards their biggest, wildest dreams and beyond.
